I was born in a very small town in Pennsylvania in 1948. I think I became interested in fiber arts because I had a creatively frustrated, stay-at-home mom with an Interior Design degree who made me 30 homemade dresses (with embroidery for) 1st grade! She also made my Aunt’s wedding gown and doll clothes for all the neighborhood girls for Christmas! I designed and sewed my own doll clothes and later some of my own clothing. I also learned to crochet and would make up my own designs. So I grew up with sewing and creative energy around me.
In the 60’s I was transplanted to the central coast of California where the freedom, richness and the colors of the Hippie Era were inspiration to create ANYTHING!! I learned basketmaking from an artist that I posed for and was always sewing or crocheting SOMETHING! I learned to knit socks- which with the 4 needles and making heels are probably one of the trickiest things to knit. So after that I was able to create whatever I wanted- mostly hats and sweaters for my nieces and daycare kids as my models! And they are such willing guinea pigs for my experiments in yarn!! So now what? Who knows? Just watch me!!
