Internationally known photographic artist Cindy May lives on Bowen Island, BC Canada. Cindy has travelled extensively and is established in the fields of commercial, fashion, architectural and advertising as well as conceptual photography and private portraiture.
Her breath taking journalistic documentary style black-and-white collections exemplify her passion for travel and discovery of the world around her. The deep appreciation and compassion for earth’s habitants is reflected in the eyes of her often young subjects.
The openness vulnerability and power that can be seen in her varied published and exhibited collections can also be seen in Cindy’s private portraitures in her signature unassuming relax styles and his deep sensitivity and ease with people shows and shines through in frame after frame of anything she shoots.
In the industry for photography and collectible arts Cindy is considered a fine art photographer she works with her camera and the traditional way and uses film and chemistry in a dark room.
However much of Cindy’s commercial image library is made up of vibrant saturated color images from exotic and surreal situations while travelling. This extensive collection produces a startling contrast with the hauntingly beautiful black-and-white images the looks and is known for. Cindy is a solo parent home schooling and Rudolph Steiner advocate.
Cindy is also involved in many foundations and environmental action groups and is passionate about the care of earth and the love and protection of children and animals.
Into 2012 Cindy started painting in acrylic contemporary style adding mixed-media collages to her extensive body of work. With the whimsical and dreamlike quality the paintings and collages reflect the same mood and vision that Cindy finds in her photographs.
